National Leadership Award

The purpose of this award is to honor an outstanding leader who has made significant contributions and has had a significant impact on the field of behavioral disorders.  This individual should have made significant contributions to the field of behavioral disorders through their research, leadership in state, regional, or national organizations, leadership in teacher education or practitioner preparation, or state and national policy development or implementation.  The contributions made should extend over a considerable period of time.  Someone who is familiar with the nature and quality of his/her work should nominate the individual.  

Awarded in 'Even' Years - 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016 . . .

Award

  • Airfare to the Annual CEC convention
  • 2-day stipend to attend the convention
  • A plaque commemorating the award

Requirements

  • A letter of nomination that indicates the name, address, phone number, CEC Identification Number, and e-mail of the nominee. The letter must summarize the contributions of the nominee.  This letter also must include the name, address, and phone number and email of the person making the nomination.
  • A brief vita or resume of the individual nominated which shows educational background, place of employment and employment history, courses taught, publications, research grants/projects, positions held with professional organizations, and awards and honors received.   Additional information that might assist the award review committee may be submitted. 
  • At least three letters of support form other leaders in the field of behavioral disorders. 

The Award Committee will review the nominating materials. All materials become the
property of CCBD and will not be returned to the nominee or the person making the
nomination. Nominations that do not include the material specified above or that fail to be
submitted prior to the specified deadline may not be reviewed.

The award will be presented at the Annual CCBD Business Meeting.
